Classes

A variety of classes & programs for all levels

Adults

At Mason First United Methodist Church we believe growing in love and service to God and one another is a life long journey. We encourage one another in the journey through worship, education, caring for one another, giving and serving. Whether you’re just starting out or have walked the path for years, you’ll find something to lift your spirit and nurture your faith.

Opportunities

Faithlink – A life-application dialogue class on Contemporary issues. Meets on Sunday mornings at 10:45 p.m., year-round.

PATH Group – A study group (open to all), currently working through the Gospel of Luke. Meets Wednesdays at 11:00. Check the calendar for class dates.

Bible Study – Led by Rev. Suzanne Goodwin, meets on Tuesdays at 10:30 p.m. Check the calendar for class dates.

Older Adults

Our group for older adults (you get to decide for yourself whether or not you fit into this category!) is called M&M’s (Mason Methodists). While that name has nothing to do with melt in your mouth candies, it has everything to do with making new friends and having a good time together. M & M’s offers monthly book studies and periodic trips to movies, and other special events. It’s a great opportunity for more mature adults to make a connection.

Support Groups

All of us face challenges as we journey through life. Our ongoing support groups offer ministry in times of grief and support to those caring for loved ones. Our arthritis exercise class helps individuals know they’re not alone in dealing with what, for many, is a challenging condition. These groups include:

  • Widowed Companions
  • Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support
  • Arthritis Excercise
  • Tai Chi

For more details about any of these groups contact the church office by e-mail or by calling 517-676-9449.

Women’s Groups

We invite you to join our local unit of United Methodist Women as we live to fulfill …

OUR PURPOSE:  “The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.”

We are women of purpose, vision, faith, and mission. Through our work and financial support, we make a positive difference to many individuals in our hometowns and communities all around the globe.

WHAT WE DO: We pledge over $4,000 in Mission Giving in the United States to provide vital support for United Methodist Women-related national mission institutions and other U.S. ministries, as well as spiritual growth programs, membership nurture and opportunities for leadership development, mission education, and service and advocacy. Internationally UMW supports some 150 programs, carried out by up to 116 organizations in over 110 countries. Through our local fundraisers, we provide approximately $5,000 to missions such as Camp New Day, Capital Area Community Services, City Rescue Mission, Salvation Army, South Side Kitchen, Henderson Settlement, United Methodist Community House, Mason Food Bank, Baby Boxes for Haiti, First UMC Quilting group, and more.

CIRCLES: Circles are small groups within the Mason UMW unit. Join us in a circle that fits your needs.

  • Deborah – meets 4th Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.
  • Naomi – meets 4th Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
  • Rachel – meets 3rd Thursday as 9:15 a.m.
